With a focus on the interplay between ADHD and Mental Health across the lifespan, this webinar is a continuation of Part 1 of the “Beyond Series” (Beyond Diagnosis) but can be attended as independent of the series. In this session, we integrate principles of positive psychology and cognitive neuroscience to help practitioners foster resilience and well-being in clients with complex ADHD and mental health profiles.
In this 1.5-hour webinar, we will discuss the latest research on the neurocognitive underpinnings of ADHD, including differences in brain structure and function; provide a comprehensive overview of specific executive functions (e.g., working memory, planning, organization, emotional regulation) and how they are commonly impacted in ADHD and mental illness; and analyze case studies highlighting the diverse presentations of ADHD and the challenges of differential diagnosis to empower your approach to working with this often-misunderstood population.
Childhood and Adolescence: Early signs of ADHD and their impact on social, emotional, and academic development.
Transition to Adulthood: Unique challenges faced by adults with ADHD, including relationships, work, and self-esteem.
Women and ADHD: Addressing the underdiagnosis and misdiagnosis of ADHD in women, we highlight the importance of gender-sensitive assessment and treatment.
Debunking common myths and misconceptions: We work to unmask ADHD in the therapy room, while exploring the complexities of diagnosing ADHD in the presence of co-occurring mental health disorders like anxiety, depression, and mood disorders, especially for adults and women.
